China secured its first artistic gymnastics gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, with Liu Yang leading a one-two finish in the still rings final on August 4. Liu scored 15.300, narrowly beating teammate Zou Jingyuan’s 15.233. Greece's Eleftherios Petrounias took bronze with 15.100.

Liu defended his title from Tokyo 2020, becoming the first man to do so since Japan's Nakayama Akinori in 1968 and 1972. France's Samir Ait Said, who overcame a severe injury from Rio 2016, finished fourth with 15.000.
